Day 7 – Florence

venice

It was an early start for us on a Saturday morning to continue our next part of the exciting trip to Florence. It’s ~ 2 hour duration to Florence from Rome by train. As we had done all of our train tickets booking via Euro Rail, it was a fast one by just heading to the right platform. We planned only for a 1 day trip to Florence and took the Hop in/Hop off bus tour that was 15 Euro per person. This tour is a very good option for 1 day trips. You can hop in to the bus and get down at any attraction, spend some time and then hop back to the bus. They provide you the map and every bus stop has the bus time table.

We covered major attractions like the Palazzo Michelangelo view point that has the most beautiful view of the Florence city, museums and the world famous Uffizi Gallery. Florence is a very scenic place and the views give you a very pleasant and romantic experience

We had to catch our train back to Rome at 7 PM and we were at the Uffizi galleria until 6 PM. We decided to take the bus and thought we would reach the Florence station as our assumption of train timings was 7.30 PM. Half way in the bus, I checked the train timings and we hopped off the bus to take the taxi in order to make for the 7 PM train.

We reached the station by 6.45 PM and to our surprise they had cancelled our train. But we had options to take other trains travelling via Rome and took the 7.10 PM train. We were so tired that we directly went to our hotel and did not stop at any other place.
