City Tour – Day 4

We wanted to do the City tour today and heard lot of great things about La Paz. We thought about renting a car but came to know that the resort provided a city tour to these places and found that as a better option especially being new to the country & considering safety as well.

La Paz & Todas Santos were the 2 major cities of our travel today. On our way to La Paz, Buena Vista, Miraflores and Santiago were the rural towns that we passed by and stopped at one of the town that had only 200 people in total. We visited a very old church in this town but the town was so empty that we could hardly see any one in sight. La Paz was the next stop on our trip and the drive was around 1 hour.

La Paz is a city of more than 200,000 people with multitude of activities tours and attractions offered year-round. The tranquil seaside setting is very beautiful and the downtown boardwalk is the center of the attraction surrounded by restaurants, cafes and galleries all located within walking distance

We stopped at a Mexican church followed by lunch at an authentic Mexican restaurant and I personally liked it. The Chicken Fajitas that I tried was very different from the ones I had in the United States. Arvind did not like the Chicken Enmoladas and went with a side of Mexican rice & chicken soup. There were not many vegetarian varieties for Karthik & Gayathri and they managed with the options they had.

After lunch we were taken to a pearl shop in the down town area and were given like 1.5 hours to spend there. We took a boardwalk stroll and tried ice cream from a Mexican shop – the taste of the ice cream was really bad with lot of preservative smell that we had to throw all of the ice cream into trash. One of the family from the US suggested us to try the Thrifty Icecream that’s been owned by California family. The ice cream did taste good but not to the quality of Baskin @Robbins.

It was like 3.30 PM and our next stop was at the Todas Santos which is our final city for the day.

Todas Santos is a 50 minute drive from Cabo and is most commonly called as the Magical Town by the Mexican Government

There is an abundance of small artisan shops and restaurants available including the famous Hotel California. Our tour guide stopped right opposite the Hotel California and we had like an hour to go around the local shops, arts & crafts.

I liked the coffee at this place and surprising the coffee mug was so huge that you can have an entire family of 3 to drink. I have a photo of the mug taken here. Gayathri & I wanted to purchase a traditional Mexican dress and got one at a local shop.

Before heading back to Cabo, we stopped at a blanket factory and the tour guide showed us the weaving machine on how they make multi colored blankets. The kids were given some time to try weaving and had some good time here. It was sunset time and we were close to the bay – Finished our day by clicking some sunset pics.

Overall the Cabo City tour was an average one for us as we have seen a lot of country side with lot of lush green trees & landscapes more beautiful than La Paz. It’s more of a personal level taste and don’t want to discourage people from not going to this place who are reading this blog. If you have never been on a country side, you should definitely give it a try.
